Child Molestation
According to the NCRB report of 2018, about 109 children were sexually abused every day in India. Under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, 32,608 instances were reported in 2017, and 39,827 cases were reported in 2018. (POCSO). As per the report, there were 21,605 child rapes in 2018, with 21,401 rapes of girls and 204 rapes of boys.
The statistics reflect the horrific condition of child molestation in our country; hence we at SEPP world foundation have come together to design a proper roadmap so as to address this menace.
Program Roadmap
- Designing universal and prevention activities so as to stop the occurrence of such abuse through public awareness campaigns.
- Secondary prevention programs through substance abuse treatment programmes for parents with young children; respite care for families with special needs children; parent education programmes in high schools for teen mothers.
- To promote family communication and functioning, mental health interventions for children and families who have been subjected to maltreatment are available.
- Setting up family resources so that families in low-income neighbourhoods can get information and referrals from family resource centres.
Objective
- Working with local panchayats or urban local bodies to ensure that the programs are implemented properly at the ground level.
- Forming partnerships with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Women and Children's Development, and the Ministries of Tribal, Minority, and Social Justice to aid in the rehabilitation of impacted children and the development of additional programmes for them.
