Maternal Health

According to data from 2015, India has the highest rate of maternal mortality in the world, accounting for 45,000 deaths. It is one of six countries that account for half of all maternal deaths worldwide. According to the latest report from the national Sample Registration System (SRS), India's Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) for the period 2016-18 was 113/100,000 live births. Though over the years, we have seen a considerable reduction in the maternal mortality rate.

Pregnancy-related problems are the leading cause of death among young women aged 15 to 19. Adolescent females are at a higher risk of difficulties if they become pregnant since they are still maturing. Furthermore, child brides hardly obtain sufficient medical treatment while pregnant or to give birth in a health institution.

All women require access to antenatal care in pregnancy, proper skilled care during childbirth; hence we at SEPP World Foundation have come together to build a proper roadmap for providing proper antenatal and skilled care for mothers.
