Women Self Help Groups

The SHG movement in India has grown from modest savings and credit organisations aimed at empowering poor rural women to one of the world's largest institutional platforms for the underprivileged. Today, 6 million SHGs serve 67 million Indian women.

While more women are carving out a place in such businesses, there are still a few obstacles to overcome. We discovered that certain SHGs, despite their extent and capabilities, are unable to grow into full-fledged organisations. Hence, we at SEPP World Foundation have come together to develop a roadmap through which more SHGs can thrive in India.
