Child Abuse

According to a study conducted by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (GOI), young children aged 5 to 12 are the most vulnerable to abuse and exploitation across all types of abuse. This can include physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.

Physical abuse was perpetrated on two out of every three children.

Boys made up 54.68 per cent of the 69 per cent of children who were physically abused. Thus, more than half of the children were subjected to some type of physical abuse.

One or more forms of sexual abuse were reported by 53.22 per cent of kids. Persons familiar to the kid or in a position of trust and responsibility account for 50% of the abuse.

Emotional abuse was reported by every second child. It was reported by an equal number of girls and boys.
