Child Labour

According to the data provided by the Census 2011, India has a total of 10.1 million child labourers, with 5.6 million boys and 4.5 million girls. Globally, 152 million children are projected to be working as child labour, which accounts for about one out of every ten children. (UNICEF Fact Sheet)

In India, children are forced to work in various industries like brick kilns, carpet weaving, garment manufacture, domestic service, food and refreshment services (such as tea shops), agriculture, fishing, and mining, among other industries. Other forms of abuse, such as sexual exploitation and the production of child pornography, are likewise a major threat to such children.

At SEPP World Foundation we consider child labour or any such atrocities not only to be inhumane but a gross violation of the fundamental rights of these children. Hence, we are in the process of developing such programs which will help in addressing the root cause of this menace.
