Feminine Hygiene & Menstrual Health

In India, there are over 355 million menstruation women and girls4, but millions of women suffer severe impediments to a safe and dignified period hygiene experience (MHM). According to a survey, 71% of girls in India5 have never heard of menstruation before their first period. Shock (25 percent), dread (30 percent), worry (69 percent), guilt (22 percent), and annoyance are the most common sentiments reported by most schoolgirls during menarche (22 percent ). Furthermore, 70% of Indian women claim that their families cannot afford to buy sanitary pads. A common toilet was not available in 40% of government schools, and a separate toilet for girls was not available in another 40%.

These statistics reflect that currently, India faces an extreme problem related to female and menstrual hygiene, and it's the mission of SEPP World Foundation to provide proper menstrual hygiene for all women and girls in the country. For this, we are building a roadmap where every woman can have the basic necessity regarding menstrual hygiene.
