Women Empowerment
Give us a hand
Why Does It Matter
India ranks about 140th in the Gender Gap Index by World Economic Forum. According to Gender Inequality Index, in India, women account for 29% of the labour force, down from 35% in 2004. In India, more than half of women's employment is unpaid, and almost all of it is informal and unsafe. Most industries, including business leadership, are underrepresented by women. Despite accounting for about 40% of agricultural labour, they hold barely 9% of India's land. Women are likewise barred from participating in the formal financial system. Nearly half of Indian women do not have access to a bank or savings account for personal use, and 60% of women do not possess any valued assets.
The condition of women empowerment overall we can say is dismal in India and we at SEPP World Foundation have come together to improve this by expanding the avenues for women empowerment in the country.
